Joe McNicholas' coaching career with Ridley Football began in 1958, when he joined the coaching staff of legendary Ridley Football Coach Phil Marion. He took over as head coach in 1973 and continued until he retired from coaching after the 1996 season. In the 23 years years as head coach, Mr. McNicholas acculmulated 226 vicotries, 28 losses, and 2 ties, a distinction making him Delaware County's All-Time Leader in coaching victories, coaching the same team. Mr. McNicholas also attained 6 unbeaten seasons, 16 league championships, Ridley's first Class AAAA Eastern Championship and State Finals Playoff appearance, and was named Delaware County Coach of the Year twice.
